I feel like I don’t have much to say this week but I’ve accomplished so much! The quilt top for my spring quilt is DONE!!!

It has been so satisfying to have the idea in my head become a physical thing that everyone else can see. I had hoped that I would one day start designing quilts of my own, but I will admit I thought that day would be a long way off.

This particular quilt was inspired by many things, so it’s not an authentic original, but I didn’t have a pattern to follow so it’s pretty original to me. I’m hoping that as I continue to learn more that I will be able to design some truly original quilts. That is the goal.

I love the way this quilt turned out. It looks exactly the way I had imagined it. I will love it even more once it’s quilted and has the binding put on it. Originally I had planned to use the same fabric as the outer border, but I have enough green fabric leftover that I can use that instead. I love the idea of the green making the edges pop and tying it into the green upper panel.

Next week I will be working on my BOM blocks for August. If I manage to get those blocks done, then I will start quilting this. I don’t want to put it off because I know if I do I won’t come back to it until Easter when I want to use it and I remember it’s not finished. I just hope I can do it justice. Thank goodness for my Quilt Guide that I have. I’ll be utilizing it next week to quilt nice straight lines.
