I am so happy with my progress this week. I can see the finish line and it’s exciting.

I’ve managed to completely finish two more sections of the quilt and I’ve stitched in the ditch the rest of the quilt which means I just have to fill in the quilting of the last three areas.

My favorite section so far is the blue border around the center of the quilt. I absolutely love how it has turned out. Some of the diamonds are slightly tilted because my measurements were a little off, but it’s not enough that it bothers me.

The only issue I’m having is some slight puckering at the end of each section. The material really doesn’t want to lay completely flat despite the fact that I glue basted the top quilt to the batting. I can’t decide if it’s an issue with the batting or with the basting product I used. It could also be an issue with the material being overly stretched. Regardless of what’s causing it, I struggle with the excess material bunching as my presser foot forces it to stay flat as it runs through the machine.

I’m trying not to let it bother me too much. The puckers are hidden near the seams so the only way you really know they’re there is by feel. I don’t really know how likely it will it is that people will run their hands over that particular spot on a regular basis. I know my kids probably won’t even notice and if they do they really won’t care. They’ll just love that it’s a blanket I made. I can’t wait for it to be finished so my sweet kids can receive birthday snuggles from mommy all month long.
